In many communities, the local grocer is a mainstay and plays a major role. They offer the ingredients of groceries, vegetables, and foster a sense of community.Grocery shops are valued in rural areas, where it can be hard and expensive to travel long distances to get basics. It’s important that local stores stay active and serviceable.

As said, Symbioun’s programs are in support of structured community developments And we have helped communities to continue to manage and grow the small grocery stores to serve the local community.

Two families from Passara-Uva Province have so far been chosen for the project by March 2020. Rs 35000 LKR was made as an initial investment for each family. Families bought all the requisite suppliers and opened their own grocery store in their area. A meeting with those families was arranged with our team in order to have a discussion about this project and they were pleased with the project’s flow and success. Our team is in regular communication with the families about the project’s performance.
