Symbioun’s projects are designed to facilitate structured community developments throughout Sri Lanka. Since 2020, Symbioun has undertaken community development projects in the provinces of Uva and East, and our team does regular visits to ensure the longevity and success rate of the projects.

Poultry farming is one of our key project lines as it’s easy to start and maintain a high level of saleability. Since 2020, 9 carefully chosen families were given the opportunity    to initiate farms.

Chicken Farming

The agricultural method of breeding and raising chickens in order to harvest their meat or eggs for human consumption is chicken farming.

In local communities in Srilanka, organic Chicken farming is most common

The Farming of Organic Chicken

Organic poultry farming is the raising of chickens in a natural environment without using pesticides, hormones, or other chemicals for the purpose of meat or eggs. There is access to fresh air, sunshine and outdoor space for these chickens.  The chicken is allowed to feed mainly on the organic feed that is adapted to this slow-growing breed. Every effort is made to allow the chickens to have a free-range environment.

Five families were selected for the project towards the mid of  2020 with 3 families from Passara-Uva Province and 2 from Batticaloa in the East. Symbioun’s investment allowed the Families to purchase chickens from other farmers, build shelters to started their own organic poultry farm.

The Farming of Chicken for Special Purposes

Special Chicken Farming is a type of farming for special purposes such as breed suitability, rearing chickens. In June 2020, the family of Mr. Shalom         was assisted with the investment for the project.

Project 2

Chicken Feed Shop

Chicken feed shops provide different kinds of organic chicken feed that are used as supplements to help nourish the chicken. Mash is the main feed in SL poultry farming together with scratch feed and crumbles.

Financial capital was awarded to Miss Sudharshine to expand her basic bran shop into a fully-fledged chicken feed shop. As per the business owner’s statement “Retailing chicken feeds at fair prices will enable local chicken farmers to get their supplies easier, faster and at an effective cost. Allowing us to grow as a community with a sustainable economy. ” Indeed this is in line with the objective of Symbioun.
